Become lost in the rhythm of the waves that roll across Greenmount Cove. Spend hours on this north-facing beach, as the sun warms the sand all day. Precious moments reflected by sand, salt & sky.
The highly considered yet wild landscape creates a fluid connection between the lobby and Greenmount’s native flora. Here, in this private sanctuary, the dappled light and the sound of the water lapping gently in the pools create a welcoming haven at the end of the day.

ARCHITECTURE
MATERIALS
This is an exploration in sculptural form, where organic shapes mirror the light dancing across the waves, and the use of stone reflects the ancient coastline. The result? A home at one with nature and crafted for living.
Inspired by the views, the location, the interplay of light and the passage of the sun, the materiality of Cala Dei celebrates the beauty of it surrounds through a highly considered collection of materials.
GREENMOUNT
MOMENTS
Experience a location like no other. Wake early and walk up to the Duranbah lookout. Be the first to see the sun rise over Queensland, breathe the salt air, and let the warmth invigorate your presence in the environment. Follow the sunlight and savour your coastal morning walk, continuing past remnant rock pools and see the transition of the wild seas quieting into tranquil, curling waters.
Cala Dei is designed to celebrate the timeless beauty of the site: the rich basalt outcrop, the soft sands, the pure turquoise waters and the abundance of light. Walking directly from a beautifully crafted lobby space out onto the sand — the sea breezes caressing your face, the sun warming your skin — you feel at one with the elements.
Watch as the sun creeps down the face of Greenmount as you walk through the dappled light, below the towering Norfolk pines and around the iconic headland. Enjoy it here, at the doorstep of Cala Dei, and lose time appreciating the perfectly formed waves that continually roll into this spectacular Greenmount cove.
Take your time and find a place to bask in the midday sun. It might be at an outdoor table at the local restaurant, enjoying fresh seafood and a crisp white wine with friends. Perhaps it’s on a sheltered stretch of sand, where you enjoy lying down with a good book. Or is it out on the water, sitting in the line-up, waiting for the perfect wave? Secluded swimming spots, pristine beaches and charming towns offer endless places to belong.

PROJECT
TEAM
THIS IS A SPECIAL PLACE. It is the land, the ocean, the people and the light that makes our location truly breathtaking.
We searched years to find the perfect setting on Queensland’s south-east coast. Spectacular, almost untouched, this beachfront site will allow us to develop residences that reflect the beauty of the land they lie upon.
Our vision was to create a collection of homes that are gentle on the environment — that embrace the unique headland aspect, that push architectural boundaries and redefine the benchmark for luxury living.
And so Cala Dei was born. Loosely translated as ‘of the cove,’ Cala Dei will open to a breathtaking tableau that encompasses one of the country’s most pristine beaches. On a clear day, views will stretch from beyond the Surfers Paradise skyline to the Cabarita headland. But here in our private cape, on a north-facing beach, the clear water will beckon and magnificent homes will provide waterfront sanctuaries.
We welcome you to Greenmount, where a coastline crafted from volcanic rock, and surrounded by purifying water, creates nature’s ultimate playground. With salt on your skin, at one with nature and bathed in light, you are home.

Cala Dei is characterised by an abundance of natural beauty housed in the foothills of the Greenmount headland.
From here, views extend north to beyond the Gold Coast skyline, north-west to Coolangatta Beach and south to Fingal Headland. This expansive vista and setting, overlooking the stunning surrounding coastline, hilltops and river, are the foundations for the architecture, designed from, and for, its place.
Cala Dei takes its cues from its coastal setting, with residences designed to optimise the views and sea breezes. The building’s contour is derived from sweeping surf coast forms, creating the illusion of a windswept exterior rippled by a cool, coastal wind. While the overarching design theme is open and expansive, each residence remains secluded from neighbouring sites and sheltered from the low-angled sun—responding to the environment we celebrate.
A defining architectural experience occurs at arrival in the terraced, open-air lobby. In this atmospheric space, reflective pools and stone terraces create sheltered outdoor rooms for casual gatherings among subtropical gardens. Coastal breezes flood the undercroft, creating a place defined by gravitas and sanctuary. From this beautifully landscaped space, you step directly onto the warm sands of Coolangatta Beach and Greenmount cove to begin your day.
Apartment floors are subtly shaped, creating a gentle sense of movement across the northern and southern verandas, and undulating batten screens provide privacy while protecting the homes from excessive sun. Each paired floor is unique, with subtle variations evoking pieces of driftwood that dot the beachfront.
The cove of Greenmount is a natural Basalt filter, which creates the pure turquoise waters of this world-renowned surf reserve. It is not uncommon to find the silvered driftwood captured by the blackened volcanic rock of this magnificent natural outcrop.
Cala Dei foregrounds the elements of nature. Rock pools, coastlines and rippled water have inspired the spaces, forms and hues. While the overwhelming experience is one of luxury, generosity is expressed through the richness in the choice of materials and the celebration of views, establishing a continuous journey from the beachfront to the home.

In a world filled with fast fashion and disposable assets, Spyre Group strives to create spaces of enduring quality.
We are selective in all aspects and believe true craftsmanship is a lasting reward.
The Cala Dei site can never be replaced. We recognise the special quality of the land and the importance of enriching nature’s gift. We have selected a small group of designers to create a collection of spectacular homes.
Greenmount is an iconic outcrop that defines this coastal reach, so the brief to our creative team was to redefine coastal life in a superb setting.
Spyre Group believes that strong relationships with invested project partners results in far more than a development — it creates a sense of shared ownership. We see each and every project as an opportunity for our collaborators to create something remarkable.
Cala Dei is the realisation of a tireless investment by dedicated individuals who are leaders in their respective fields. This investment is layered through each element of the project, from the architecture, landscape, and interior design, to the selection of materials, bespoke fixtures and premium finishes within every residence. We believe that true collaboration at this level ignites creative energy and results in unparalleled commitment and outcomes.
Spyre Group has a deep respect for this place — a unique parcel of land invigorated by Greenmount Cove. Cala Dei is an ode to its locale. Here, unsurpassed natural beauty, combines with highly crafted design to become a sanctuary for those searching for the ultimate beachside retreat.
Kent Pinel, Design Manager
We believe in the transformational power of landscape.
At Cala Dei, we have worked to enrich quality of life, and improve people’s daily experiences, by designing an environment that is sustainable, healthy, resilient and beautiful.
Both the architecture and landscape of Cala Dei celebrate the landforms, colours and textures of Greenmount.
The extensive greenery provides a natural extension of the environment, creating an enduring relationship between the structure and the surroundings.
Cascading layers of coastal plants will draw you in from the foreshore and allude to the tranquil, resort-style foyer beyond. Large, sub-tropical plants and beautifully textured foliage will tumble from raw stone planters, framing a series of enchanting plunge pools that are inspired by the iconic Snapper Rocks rock pools.
